A ten-minute walk from the Abbey

Find Royal Cafe Westminster

We are on Vincent Square, a quiet garden square in the heart of Westminster, overlooking the green playing fields. Here is the easiest way to walk to us straight from Westminster Abbey — no map required.

On foot from Westminster Abbey

  1. 1

Start at the Abbey's main entrance

Stand on Broad Sanctuary, in front of Westminster Abbey's great west door, with the Abbey directly behind you.

  2. 2

Turn your back to the Abbey and walk straight

Turn your back to Westminster Abbey and walk straight ahead for about 400 metres down Victoria Street, with the shops and offices on either side, heading away from Parliament Square.

  3. 3

    Turn left into Artillery Row

Take the turning on your left into Artillery Row and keep heading south; the street runs on into Rochester Row. Follow Rochester Row for a few minutes until an open green opens up ahead of you.

  4. 4

    Arrive at Vincent Square

The green playing fields of Vincent Square open out in front of you. Royal Cafe Westminster is on the north side of the square, at No. 53 — look for the cream awning and the painted "Royal Cafe Westminster" sign above the window. The kettle will be on.

By Tube

Victoria (Victoria, District & Circle) and St James's Park (District & Circle) are both about an 8-minute walk. Pimlico (Victoria line) is about the same.

By Bus

Routes along Victoria Street, Rochester Row and Vauxhall Bridge Road stop within a few minutes of the square. Alight near Rochester Row or Greycoat Place.

On Foot

Most of our regulars simply walk over after seeing the Abbey — about ten minutes, all on level pavement, pram and wheelchair friendly.
